The following are the most prominent figures in the world, including politicians, athletes, and artists, who have contracted the emerging coronavirus, died or are being treated in hospital.

The deaths

American musician Ellis Marsalis, considered to be the father of jazz music in the United States, died on Wednesday after suffering an epidemic at the age of 85.

The virus has also killed 86-year-old Cameroonian saxophonist Manu Debango in France, as well as American playwright Terence McNally at 81.

The 68-year-old Senator Bab Diouf, a former president of the Marseille Football Club, died after suffering a new corona on March 31.

Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz died on March 21 from contracting the virus.

Former President of the Republic of Congo Brazzaville Jacques Joachim Yumbe Obango died Monday in France after contracting the new Coronavirus at the age of 81.

The former minister and prominent figure on the French right, Patrick DeVigian, also died on the night of March 28-29 due to the new Corona.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was diagnosed with the disease on March 27, was admitted to the intensive care unit Monday evening.

Marianne Faithfull, a British singer, transferred the icon of the sixties, aged 73, to a hospital in London, after it was confirmed that she had contracted the new Corona Virus.

The 70-year-old Chilean writer, Luis Cibolveda, who lives in northern Spain, has contracted the virus and is still in hospital. His health is unknown.

The European Union chief negotiator on Brexit Michel Barnier, 69, announced that he had contracted the new Corona virus on March 19th and that he was "recovering at his home and his condition improving", according to a European Commission source.

On Monday, Prince Charles, heir to the British throne with HIV, ended a seven-day stone period, but decided to isolate himself for an additional week.

The Prince of Monaco, Albert II, who has been infected with the virus since 31 March, also came out of stone.

American actor Tom Hanks and his wife, singer and actress Rita Wilson have recovered from illness and returned to their home in Los Angeles two weeks after the stone in Australia.

British actor Idris Elba, who was HIV-positive but without symptoms, announced the end of his isolation period on March 31.

Former Finnish President Nobel Peace Prize laureate Martti Ahtisaari, 82, is infected with the new Coruna virus.

Several players were injured in the Juventus Torino football team, including French Blaise Mettuide, the world soccer champion with the French national team in 2018, who is still in isolation, as was the Argentine striker Paulo Dybala, who confirmed on March 27 that his condition "improved a lot."

And AC Milan announced the injury of legend, former defender Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel, with the new Corona virus.

In England, Arsenal coach Michael Artita was cured of his injury on March 12.

Tests of at least 14 NBA basketball players were positive. Rudi Goubert, Donovan Mitchell, Christian Wood and Marcus Smart were cured of them.

Arvine Ngapeth, the French volleyball team's star, was also cured.

The 79-year-old Spanish opera singer, Placido Domingo, was discharged Monday from the hospital he was admitted to in Mexico after he fell ill.

French singer Patrick Brouell and Charles Elie Couture announced last Thursday that they had been infected with the virus.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to the preventive quarantine on April 2, after the result of Health Minister Yaakov's examination was positive.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remains in isolation since his wife, Sophie, was declared ill despite her recovery.
