Crime of circumstance. The criminals know how to adapt to the conjunctures, it is not new. And as France enters its fourth week of containment to try to stem the epidemic of coronavirus, the police officers of the North noticed a more than significant increase in thefts in vehicles, also called thefts from the trailer.

Not a day goes by without the police being required to loot individuals from parked vehicles. At the end of the day Monday, three young men were arrested in Lille after having visited several cars in the rue Inkermann.

Two authors of thefts from caravans arrested on average each day

During the night of Monday to Tuesday, two others, a major and a minor, were caught in the bag by the police in Armentières. Almost at the same time, in Lomme, a man was arrested while he was quietly searching the interior of a car parked on rue du Mont à camp.

According to figures from the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) in the North, for the past two weeks, an average of two robbery perpetrators have been arrested each day. To reduce the risks, it is advised by the authorities not to leave anything in vehicles, and especially not valuables, such as GPS, which would be visible from the outside.
