The ban on public gatherings of more than 50 people has been in effect since March 29, and was introduced to restrict the spread of the corona virus. Nevertheless, according to police, about 300 people gathered in Rättvik for a motorcycle meeting this weekend, following a call on Facebook.

Can provide up to six months in prison

The person who called for the meeting had not applied for a permit and police have now prepared a notification of a violation of the Ordinance Act against that person. According to the police, breaking the prevailing ban on public gatherings can result in fines or up to six months in prison.

"Sometimes one is surprised by the imbalance"

In a press release, Thomas Hellgren, Chief of Police for the Dalarnas covid 19 staff, comments on the incident:

- Sometimes you are surprised by the nonchalance and lack of understanding that some show. We do not think it is an acceptable behavior to arrange or participate in such a call, and especially not in the circumstances we have now. Whether or not this event will ultimately be considered a crime or not, we all have a responsibility to minimize any spread of the corona virus.
