April 7, 2020 "At this moment the contagion index R with zero is slightly below the 1 figure and it is an extraordinary result if we think that we were at 3 or 4, or a positive subject infected up to 3-4 people, up to a few week ago. " Health Minister Roberto Speranza said this at 'Di Martedì' on La7. But "we must not let our guard down. We are working on tomorrow but also in phase 2 - he said - we will have to live with the virus, because the virus will not disappear".

Until recently, Speranza stressed, "the curve was growing dramatically. Today, being slightly below the data for the transmission index R with zero tells us that the measurements have worked and we can start planning the future, but always with your feet on the ground and respecting the rules because it takes very little to ruin all the work done so far ".

In phase 2 "we will have to imagine an organization that allows us to get out of the total block, but it will take time and a lot of graduality", underlined the Minister of Health. "We will start from the most essential things for recovery, then from productive activities but in safety. Then, with the utmost gradualness - he explained - we will build modalities that concern those who are not engaged in these essential activities". But the invitation remains that of caution: "There are countries that have reopened prematurely, as in the case of Hong Kong or some areas of China, and have then had to close again. Therefore, great caution and gradualness is necessary". In phase 2, Speranza therefore clarified, "it will be important to invest in local medicine and Covid-Hospitals to overcome the structure of the 'mixed' hospital. In addition, there will be a campaign of diagnostic tests and serological tests and we will focus on the use new technologies with the launch of an app that allows us to speed up tracking positive cases ".
