He would strike with his bare hand, with a belt or electric cables, on the back, the neck or the legs. The Toulouse Criminal Court examined Monday the ordeal of two boys, 9 and 11 years old, victims, just like their mother, of their father's ill-treatment, reports La Dépêche du Midi in its edition of the day.

The case dates back to the end of February, when the unbearable bruises of the two children were the subject of a forensic examination. The man, a resident of Bellefontaine who has 17 convictions including for domestic violence, was tried by videoconference from the Seysses prison, where he was in pre-trial detention. According to the regional daily, he defended his strict methods of education by invoking the need to give "a framework" to his children.

The court followed the prosecution's requisitions and sentenced him to three years in prison, one of which was suspended. The abusing father therefore remains in prison.
