French smokers in the Spanish border regions tend to buy cigarettes in the neighboring country, given its cheap price compared to France. Despite the obligatory stone, an unnamed Frenchman tried the adventure. On the way, he was lost in the Al-Bernayeh mountains, located between the two countries, when he left his village to obtain supplies on foot, according to the gendarmes who saved him.

In a post on Facebook, the local gendarmerie denounced the behavior of the French citizen, residing in Perpignan, who was found exhausted, shivering in the cold over the heights of the region of Perthos, a village near the border with Spain. To save him, the authorities had to use a civil security helicopter, as well as other resources.

After leaving Perpignan by car, he was not allowed to pass at a checkpoint, on the border between France and Spain. Instead of surrendering, he parked his car aside and set out on foot, hoping to buy cigarette boxes, when crossing the border from the mountain.

The man was disappointed, as he fell into a stream and then stumbled due to the density of the trees. He ended up asking for help in facing the danger that surrounded him. In any case, this adventure and suffering will not be an excuse for exempting him from paying a fine of 135 euros, stipulated, in case of non-compliance with the rules of domestic quarantine.
