The alarm at 00.21 during the night towards Tuesday. It had then started to burn in the facade of a pizzeria in Lerum. But the fire quickly caught on in the rest of the building.
- We got it damped right fast but there was strong smoke development into the property. And then the fire has spread, too, says Mikael Lindgren, alarm and command operator at the emergency services.
The building has both a pizzeria, a gym and other sports facilities, according to the rescue service. A large part of the building is expected to be destroyed in the flames, but the spread risk to other buildings was never very high.
- I think we have a pretty good effect right now what it seems. So at least half the building should be saved. Hopefully it doesn't burn down anyway. But it is certainly smoke damage, says Mikael Lindgren.
