The jurisprudence research committee affiliated with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif confirmed that there is no scientific evidence - until now - that there is a link between fasting and infection with the new Corona virus, and said that accordingly, the provisions of Islamic Sharia regarding fasting remain the same as the obligation to fast on all Muslims. Except for those who are legally permitted to break the fast with the excuses.

This came in a statement issued by the committee, today, at the conclusion of its thirteenth emergency meeting held in Cairo to discuss the implications of the Corona virus and its impact on the fasting of the month of Ramadan, in the presence of senior doctors and medical specialties in its various branches, representatives of the World Health Organization and a number of Sharia scholars Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
