On line A of the Toulouse metro, at Esquirol station. - Fred Scheiber / 20 Minutes

  • There are only 26,000 users who use the Toulouse metro every day.
  • After having decided to have free access on March 20, Tisséo launched the reimbursement process for its thousands of subscribers on Monday.
  • Annual subscribers who paid cash will not be compensated until after the containment period.

In normal times, the Toulouse metro transports between 400,000 to 500,000 passengers per day. They are no longer 26,000, three weeks after the start of the great confinement due to coronavirus, according to Tisséo. The operator, while maintaining the free network decided on March 20, has in fact returned to service its validators at the end of last week to precisely have a reliable vision of the number of users who still use public transport.

In parallel, Tisséo launches this Monday the process of reimbursing its subscribers - 75,000 annually and 100,000 monthly - using an electronic form to fill out online.

Who is affected by the approach?

The device is intended for cash, 7-day, 31-day and annual subscribers, including those who have loaded their sesame on the Ticket Easy app.

Who doesn't need to do it

No need to fill out the form, if you are an annual subscriber who pays by monthly withdrawals, these are automatically suspended from now on and until the end of the confinement period. For the period from 17 (date of confinement announcement) to March 31, compensation will only occur after the confinement period, the date of which remains for the moment mysterious.

Same thing for those who bought a subscription and didn't have time to use it. It remains valid and will start from the day of the first validation.

How is Tisséo calculated?

Monthly subscribers will be compensated in proportion to the number of days remaining on their Pastel card as of March 17, using a simple rule of three. For example, for a 31-day subscriber who took out a 51-euro subscription on February 22, there will be seven days to compensate from March 17 to 23, inclusive. Tisséo will reimburse 51X7 / 31 = 11.52 euros.

Tisséo claims to have not calculated for the time being the operating loss that will result from the coronavirus epidemic, but it will obviously be colossal.
