Now after the refugee crisis, there are fewer asylum seekers, as many countries' borders are still closed. This is according to Per Karlsson, head of unit at the Swedish Migration Agency's reception unit in Västerås.

The corona virus is also a contributing cause of fewer people seeking asylum, and this is something that is noticeable in Västmanland.

- We hardly have any asylum seekers and now with corona it means that the asylum seekers have to manage themselves more, says Per Karlsson.

He also believes that the Migration Board in Västerås has preparedness if asylum seekers come to the county.

It became increasingly difficult to arrange housing for everyone

With regard to the refugee crisis in 2015, the Swedish Migration Agency was not prepared for as many as it did.

- We couldn't believe it and people would walk through Europe that way. We couldn't imagine that, he says-

Many accommodations were overcrowded and the longer the crisis progressed, the harder it became for the Swedish Immigration Service to arrange accommodation for everyone. However, Per Karlsson emphasizes that everyone who came to Västmanland got their heads over it.
