- Normally during this time, sick leave is 10 percent, ie about 300 people. After the new recommendations to stay home at the onset of illness came into force, the municipality saw a rapid doubling of sick leave, says Johan Lindström, head of the health and care administration.

Preschool teachers are relocated to elderly homes

When the coronas center began to spread, Eskilstuna Municipality created a system to be able to daily capture the staff needs of the health and care administration and match it to the surplus found in other departments.

The municipality resolves the acute staff shortage partly by hiring new staff and taking in all hourly wages, but mainly by repositioning the people who are already working within the municipality today.

- My picture is that it is primarily about staff from the Children and Education Board, especially from child care, who go into senior housing and in home care, says Johan Lindström.

Works with cleaning and laundry

The majority of those who relocate the municipality have previous experience of care and care. Others receive shorter introductory courses.

- In the first place, people work with service such as cleaning, laundry and other services for the elderly. In this way, we release regular staff who can focus on nursing, says Johan Lindström.
