A third Sudanese has been in police custody since Saturday evening in the investigation into the knife attack perpetrated in the morning by a Sudanese refugee in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) which left two dead, AFP learned on Sunday April 5, at the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT).

It is "a young Sudanese who lived in the same home, where the respondent resided" in the center of Romans-sur-Isère, said PNAT.

This brings the number of Sudanese men in police custody to three: in addition to Abdallah Ahmed-Osman, the perpetrator of the attack born in 1987 and refugee in France since June 2017, there is a second man presented as " one of his acquaintances ", who was arrested at the attacker's" but did not live at home ", according to a source close to the investigation.

"It was by searching" the housing of the second Sudanese "that they arrested the third," we learned from the same source.

The attacker says "don't remember what happened"

The first elements of the investigation into Abdallah Ahmed-Osman "highlighted a murderous course determined to seriously disturb public order by intimidation or terror".

According to a source familiar with the investigation, the attacker said "cannot remember what happened". His hearing was delayed a bit because he was very agitated after his arrest. A psychiatric assessment is scheduled for Sunday.

Armed with a knife, Abdallah Ahmed-Osman attacked passers-by on the street and people in a tobacco shop, a butcher's shop and a bakery. Two people are dead and two injured are in intensive but stable care. One is in the recovery room and two have left the hospital, the source close to the investigation.
