China Overseas Chinese Network April 5 Question: Staying Overseas 丨 On Birthday, the first gift I received was a suspension

What is happening to the overseas Chinese in all countries as the new pneumonia epidemic spreads all over the world? China Overseas Chinese Network (ID: qiaowangzhongguo) specially launched a series of "Overseas Stays" series of manuscripts, telling the story of the "war epidemic" left by overseas Chinese. In this issue, Duan Lian of Spain shared his left-behind story.

At the beginning of 2020, the outbreak of new pneumonia pneumonia broke out in China, and I was teaching as an expatriate teacher at the Inhua School in Bali, Indonesia.

Apart from paying close attention to the development and changes of the domestic epidemic situation and giving them encouragement and comfort at the right time, I can do very little.

Spring is in March in spring. The epidemic in China is gradually being brought under control.

But New Coronary Pneumonia broke out in countries other than China. With the first confirmed case on March 2, Indonesia, where I am located, is not immune to this beautiful country that is said to be blessed by gods.

For a time, the roles changed. When the domestic epidemic was serious, my family and friends who were concerned about comforting me sent messages one after another and asked me about the situation on my side.

With a certain understanding of New Coronary Pneumonia, Chinese teachers in Indonesia did not panic. As always, they stick to their work positions. At the same time, we also protect ourselves as much as possible-wear masks during class, before class 1. Sterilize with alcohol after class and wash hands frequently to minimize going out ...

We know that protecting yourself in the face of an epidemic means protecting others, being responsible for yourself, and being responsible for others.

In this way, I completed the first public class of wearing a mask in my life. This time I will remember my life. And this special public class also had a special impact, that is, more and more students began to wear masks consciously to the class.

This should be what we often say "body teaching is more important than words." When faced with underage students, leading by example is always more effective than bitterness. As their teacher, teaching them how to protect themselves is a responsibility. It is an expression of love.

On March 16, the Bali Inhua School where I taught announced that students were suspended for two weeks, and this day happened to be my birthday.

Before the outbreak, I had imagined many ways to celebrate my birthday, but I never thought that the first "birthday gift" I received was actually "suspended." What does suspension mean? Everyone knows that the epidemic has become more serious, which is an effective protection for students and teachers.

Faced with this situation, my heart is mixed. But soon, this feeling of mixed taste was replaced by moving. The Chinese teachers in the same dormitory prepared a birthday surprise for me. Looking at a table full of home-cooked food and pre-prepared cakes, a warm current poured into my heart.

In this special period, such a special day, they gave me love and care more than family. On this birthday, shrouded in the haze of the epidemic, they brought me a beam of light, illuminating the way and dispelling the cold.

Although classes have been suspended, many places here have borrowed from China's anti-epidemic measures. Teaching work has been carried out in an orderly manner. We produce teaching videos and slides every day, arrange learning tasks, and send them to students in a unified manner.

Daily work and life are still carried out step by step. We believe that there will always be rainbows after wind and rain, and that one day the sea breeze will blow away the haze on Bali, and there will be a blue sea and blue sky here.
