Herd immunity does not yet seem fully excluded from the government's plans in Great Britain to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic which has so far killed 4,313 deaths and 42,000 confirmed cases of contagion. In an interview with the Times, a senior Downing Street consultant claims that with confinement we have narrowed Britain to a corner without a clear exit strategy and needs to reconsider herd immunity. "A prolonged blockade is likely to cause more suffering than the virus itself," warned Graham Medley, a scholar of pandemic models for the government. He claims that the country had to face the compromise of choosing between whom to harm young and old.
