  • Football: Getafe de Bordalás is consecrated by eliminating Ajax

Although José Bordalás has just turned 56, he stopped pretending for several years. Since coming to Madrid in 2016 to take command of the Getafe Club de Fútbol, the player from Alicante has been climbing positions in the classification table both professionally and stylistically.

His image has undergone an evolution that has paralleled the successes he has achieved with Geta . Bordalás has changed the hairstyle, the shave for a very careful beard and a pair of glasses that, far from aging, give it a youthful touch. "He has always been very flirtatious, then and now," one of his close friends assures LOC. Bordalás confirms this in the first person and downplays his makeover: "If you see photos of anyone from ten or fifteen years ago, you are surprised by the changes. But hey, I am more exposed and people see more change in me. anyway I have always tried to take care of my image. Fortunately I have had people who advise me, my family, my older brother who has been my reference, my grandparents who were tailors ... ".

Some voices have compared their aesthetics to that of Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp. "I don't think we look alike , we each have our own image. I have never noticed anyone and I have always marked my own style. I am realizing that some follow me, that is not bad. It means that I like it."

Pepe Bordalás also loves training in the gym and taking care of food: "I go to the gym, I do my routines, I've been doing it for a long time. As for food, I also take care of myself. No matter how much sport you do, if you don't have control in feeding you don't get good results. "

Bordalás received the Miguel Muñoz award for best coach 2019 in the awards organized by the MarcaGTRES newspaper

Bordalás became, before the outbreak of the coronavirus, the fashion coach. "Well, the press has described me like this but a coach stands out for a collective work. Still I accept the qualification and it is a pride that they recognize your work."

There are betting houses that already place him as a coach of some European team. "We don't know what the future holds for us. I work to improve, I'm excited, I hope I can continue to grow in my career."

The origins of the Getafe coach lie in the Alicante neighborhood of Rabasa, where Bordalás grew up with nine other brothers. "I am very close to my brothers. Although my parents are no longer, we are always in contact. I am very familiar, always have been."

Whenever he can, he returns to Alicante, where he has a house very close to the beach. "He has never lost touch with his origins. Whenever he comes to Alicante, he stays with his lifelong friends. He also does not deny taking photos or signing autographs to people who ask him, on the contrary," says his friend.

'THE YOUNG DAD'

The epicenter of Bordalás' life is his, a lesson he learned as a teenager. "I was a dad when I was just 18 years old . Now my children are adults, I have a wonderful relationship with them. When you are such a young father you sacrifice the years of your youth but that makes you mature and I am very satisfied because they are formidable. He really likes soccer but he left it quite young, there is a very high percentage of children who do not reach the elite. I never got involved and I did not want to interfere in what he liked ... He decided not to continue but he is still an athlete, he does triathlons ".

Bordalás married very young and had a son and daughter with his current ex-wife. "I worked as much as I could: in an insurance company, as a delivery man, in a bookstore ... But never abandoning football, which is my true vocation. I was able to dedicate myself to training young and I have been growing up to being able to train in the first division "

He is currently in a relationship for several years with another woman that he prefers not to talk about in order to maintain his privacy. Her grandchildren, children of her first-born, are fortunate to have a young grandfather and Bordalás tries to dedicate as much time as he can: "I don't enjoy my grandchildren as much as I would like because football often keeps you away from the family. Yes I love children. It's always been that way, I've had a soft spot for them. "

Pending the resumption or not of football competitions, he continues to have contact with his players, whom he has advised on many occasions on a personal level. He is a firm believer in coaching, also on an emotional level. "When someone has had a sentimental problem, I have tried to help him because we have all lived and gone through our stories."

As for his hobbies beyond his passion for soccer, there are bulls (he had a brother who was a bullfighter until an accident cut short his career), cinema and the history of Rome , a city he has visited on multiple occasions. Such is his affiliation with Rome, that he has a tattoo related to the city. "I have one of some Roman symbol, of the dates of birth of my children ... and some more. I do not have a body full of tattoos but I do not regret what I have done." On the other hand, and although they recommend its use, he prefers not to have social networks: "They generate a newspaper archive for you, there may be misinterpretations ... I'm fine without them."

Bordalás spends these days of confinement in his house in Madrid, taking care of his own from a distance and sending a message of optimism: "It has been something that has overcome us all, but fortunately I believe that with union and commitment we will It was unthinkable that it could happen and now we have to be optimistic and help. From there all my appreciation to the health workers, to the security forces, to all the people who are risking their lives. "
