04 April 2020 Sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt nuclear aircraft greeted their captain, Brett Crozier, with a long round of applause, as he disembarked for the last time from the ship, after being removed from office for defending his men against the Covid-19 pandemic. In a video, we see the soldiers who silently pay him homage with the military salute and, when he reaches the ship's gangway, they let themselves go in a long applause screaming his name, "Captain Crozier, Captain Crozier", even though he was now an ex.

"We are not at war. Sailors must not die," wrote the captain, in the letter in which he asked that the crew disembark because there had been cases of infection on board. But the Minister of the Navy, Thomas Modly, did not like: "We are not at war in the traditional sense of the word, but we are not completely at peace either," he explained, announcing the welcome.

In defense of 'captain Crozier' Tweed Roosevelt, great-grandson of the legendary American president, also took the field: with an editorial in the New York Times, he wrote that "Captain Crozier is a hero and my great-grandfather would have agreed". The American aircraft carrier, the flagship of the United States Navy, is nicknamed the 'big stick' and has practically unlimited autonomy.

"Captain Crozier!"
