“The Frunze District Court of St. Petersburg issued a decision on the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of Nikolai Alexandrov, accused of committing crimes under Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Assignment and embezzlement”), valid for May 9, 2020, ”the press release quoted by TASS reads.

In the framework of the new criminal case, Aleksandrov was detained on April 3, on the same day he was charged.

According to the investigation, the ex-head of Metrostroy ensured the signing of assignment agreements on behalf of the company with Cyclone KZS LLC on obviously unfavorable conditions in order to harm the organization.

On December 10, 2019, the ex-head of Metrostroy was detained in St. Petersburg in the case of misappropriation and embezzlement during the construction of the continuation of the fifth metro line.

In late January, Aleksandrov was released from the pre-trial detention center under house arrest.
