From our correspondent in Bangui,

It is essential for the authorities and the organizations to reinforce the knowledge of the inhabitants on this virus in the districts. On the ground, with the support of organizations like Première urggence, door-to-door started this week by agents of the Ministry of Health.

Mamie Marthe has already installed a jump in front of her house equipped with a tap and soap. She is happy to see the community relays: “ It's very good. I accept the advice. Even we, the mothers, there, the old mothers, there, we must take a lot of precautions. A lot of precaution for that ”.

But here, there is no tap water every day, complains his little daughter Laetitia: “ Water is expensive. Here, we sell the can at the fountain. 250, a can. If it's two, it's 500. And we pay the push too. It costs at least 1,000 francs per two cans. One buys. We are obliged for health ”.

The two of them are worried and keep the children in the small concession, which is a little tight for everyone.

" It's scary. There are many people who died. People around the world are dying, ”adds Laetitia.

One hundred and thirty-two community relays have started the grid of Bangui. Armel has been doing this work for ten years. He is comfortable in raising awareness. He received two specific training courses on the coronavirus.

We are the door-to-door that we do. Each has its sector and there is a map for each sector. You have to mark the cartography. Everything must appear on the score sheet. When I arrive in a household, I take the name of the head of the household. We contact them directly. There, these are the people I visited today, fifteen households in all. And the reception is very good, ”explains Armel, community relay.

The main messages disseminated are hand washing and distance from people.
