The campaign "invalidated" the Egyptian opposition demanded that its government release the medical detainees, to help in efforts to combat the spread of the Corona virus.

The movement launched by opponents said that "Egypt cannot suffer from a lack of medical staff, and there are more than a thousand doctors and workers in the medical sector inside the prisons."

According to Al-Jazeera Net correspondent Ahmed Ramadan, the movement has published lists of more than a hundred of them in various medical specialties, calling on the Egyptian authorities to put aside the political dispute and release these doctors for their use in government hospitals, prison hospitals or military hospitals.

In a statement, the campaign added: "The Egyptian regime lost a real opportunity to unite the people of the homeland in the face of this imminent danger, and preferred to use its security stick for those who disagree with its version of the spread of the epidemic, and to continue the policy of misleading the Egyptians, underestimating a catastrophe that will kill the lives of thousands of innocent people And it has left economic devastation that increases the poverty of the Egyptians. "We launched a distress call for those who feared Egypt, with three clear requests: the release of the detained doctors to benefit from them in the face of the virus, support the doctors with what they need financially and morally, and open military hospitals to civilians for free," said Mahmoud Nagy, a spokesman for the Battal campaign.

Nagy explained in his interview with Al-Jazeera Net that there is a growing fear that the Egyptian regime will obfuscate the real numbers of the injured, and with weak medical infrastructure, there will be large numbers of deaths in Egypt.

"In order to reduce this as closely as possible, it is imperative that what doctors need is the first priority in the state, and it is not acceptable that a doctor sacrifices his life and risks the health of his family members, and the state does not provide him with the tools he needs," he added.

This comes in the context of the escalation of human rights calls for the release of detainees and prisoners in Egypt, for fear of the spread of the virus among them, especially with the deterioration of health and humanitarian conditions in Egyptian prisons.

Days ago, activists on social media circulated a message attributed to doctors inside Egyptian prisons, calling for their release to contribute to facing the spread of the Corona virus, with the security authorities taking the necessary measures.
