The agreement means, among other things, that the regular working hours are increased to 48 hours per week and that the care staff in turn receive more pay. A crisis compensation of 120 percent of regular salary is paid for each hour worked. All in all, this means a compensation of 220 per cent of salary per hour.

The decision on a crisis situation agreement was made by the Stockholm County Board on Thursday and was then approved by Sweden's municipalities and region on Friday.

- During an emergency crisis situation, where it is necessary to secure staffing to care for sick and save lives, increased flexibility is needed for employers and employees, says Ulf Olsson, vice chairman of the negotiating delegation in SKR, in the press release.
