The outbreak in South Korea broke out in mid-February, with a single-day increase of more than 800 cases at its peak. In the past two weeks, the development of the Korean epidemic has slowed. According to the report of the Central Epidemic Prevention Countermeasure Department of South Korea, 86 confirmed cases were added within 24 hours.

But the epidemic in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Incheon is worrying. In the past week, the number of single-day cases in the metropolitan area has continued to outpace the severe outbreaks of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. From 00:00 on the 2nd to 00:00 on the 3rd, the capital area increased another 42 confirmed cases, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases reached 1,119.

Frequent collective infections have led to strains in the capital. Recently, a serious cross-infection has occurred in a church in Guro, Seoul, and a hospital in Gyeonggi-do.

Yin Taihao, head of the epidemic prevention department of the Central Accident Management Headquarters of South Korea, introduced that day that most of the new cases were related to collective infections, and urged the public to continue to comply with epidemic prevention regulations.

In mid-March, the South Korean government issued a call to the community to "keep social distance" for two weeks. Yin Taihao said that as the epidemic spreads across the globe, measures to maintain social distance will continue to be implemented, requiring people to reduce travel. (Finish)
