It is the first time that a country has this idea and we are far from the French exit certificate. Peru on Thursday tightened travel restrictions as part of the fight against the coronavirus by banning men and women from going out on the streets together and by imposing gender-based outings.

- Presidencia Perú (@presidenciaperu) April 3, 2020Under this unusual measure, announced by President Martin Vizcarra, men will now be able to leave their homes only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while women will only be allowed to do so. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. No one will be allowed to go out on Sunday. "We have ten days left, let's make that extra effort to control this disease," said the president. He specified that the measure would be in force until April 12, the date scheduled for the end of the confinement in force in Peru since March 16.
A total of 55 dead
As of Thursday, Peru had 1,414 confirmed cases of Covid-19 contamination and 55 dead. The first death was recorded on March 6. According to Martin Vizcarra, this new measure aims to halve the number of people circulating on the streets at a given time, because the restrictions already applied were not sufficient. "The control measures have produced good results, but not those which were hoped for," he regretted.
This alternation between men and women will not apply to employees of essential services who operate during the state of health emergency: markets, banks, pharmacies and hospitals. Finally, the president stressed that soldiers and police officers who patrol the streets should in these particular circumstances respect homosexuals and transsexuals and "not have homophobic attitudes".
