02 April 2020 "To date, the EU, namely the European institutions and the Member States, have mobilized € 2.770 billion. It is the largest financial response to a European crisis ever given in history". Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said so.

"I recognize that emergency measures in the coronavirus pandemic crisis may be necessary, but I am concerned that some measures go too far, and in particular I am concerned about the situation in Hungary." So the President of the European Commission, responding to journalists. "The measures must be limited, strictly proportionate, adequate, not last indefinitely, and above all be subject to regular monitoring" of the Parliament.
