Already on Sunday when the ban on gatherings of more than 50 people came into force, the Swedish church in Jönköping began to take action, but following the new directive from the Public Health Authority on Wednesday, the guidelines became even clearer for the Swedish church in Jönköping.

- We were just recently given new guidelines by the bishop about not celebrating church service with the congregation in the future, says assistant pastor and priest, Per Sjöstrand.

The church hall remains open

In the case of individual prayers, the church will remain open to individuals. But the worship service will be broadcast on the web so that people can participate in the celebration at home. Per Sjöstrand says that a lot of people usually stay in the crutch at Easter, something that is not lost now.

"Obviously this feels strange, the service of worship is our main mission, but this is the only reasonable thing in the current situation and the prayer will be alive anyway and we do not set the individual prayer," says Per Sjöstrand.
