It was on March 20, 2019 that a young man, then at the age of 18, was repeatedly stabbed at Stora Torget in Uppsala. The man was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.

A few hours after the incident, police were able to arrest several people, but only a 17-year-old is now being charged for attempted murder.

About ten young people, belonging to two different groups, have been involved in the brawl.

According to the indictment, the 17-year-old must have repeatedly stabbed the victim in, among other things, the chest, as well as in the back when the victim attempted to flee the scene. According to the lawsuit, there was a danger that the crime would be completed "partly because the injuries themselves were life-threatening and partly because the last chop was interrupted by blows from another person". The evidence includes a number of testimonials and film material from surveillance cameras at Stora Torget.

How does the 17-year-old behave?

"He denies attempted murder but admits that he caused the victim the injuries," says the man's defender, lawyer Stefan Wallin.
