Judging by all, Sweden is heading into an extra-intense period of the corona crisis. The number of infected persons is increasing, and the burden on healthcare is increasing, especially in Stockholm.

- We are on the way to the top that we expected to come, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.

Have attempts to level the increase over time failed?

- No I do not think so. We have had a flat curve for almost a month. It's very important. This means that the peak that we can now possibly see coming will be significantly lower than it could have been, and lower than in many other countries.

He continues:

- I think that this will make healthcare a little easier. It's hard, and it will probably be even harder the next week or two. But it is manageable. It could have been much worse, and we could have been in the midst of a major healthcare crisis if we hadn't done as well as we did, says Tegnell.
