It is the trade union Municipal that is preparing for the protective stop at the Eastern Hospital, which P4 Gothenburg was the first to report.

The protective stop is introduced at the Eastern Hospital's medical department, Kommunal announces to SVT Nyheter Väst. This is on the grounds that the employer does not comply with the recommendations of the Public Health Authority regarding protective equipment - and that the work then becomes a danger to the nurses.

A source at Kommunal reports that the staff does not have mouth protection, but only visor, in the close care of covid-19 infected patients - something that Kommunal believes contravenes the guidelines of the Public Health Authority.

They should have liquid-repellent mouthguards in combination with a visor or goggles, they mean - and in close care of patients one should also be under visor. It is therefore guidelines that they do not follow.

- The staff are very scared of their own and their relatives' health and lives. We stop all patient-related work, says Christine Marttila, chairperson of Municipal SU Östra, to GT.
