An Italian nurse killed his girlfriend, a medical student, after he thought she had transmitted the "Corona" virus, then reported the crime to the police and attempted suicide, but Corona's tests on the nurse and the doctor stated that the two people were not carriers of the virus.

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" quoted Italian police as saying that the student doctor, Lorena Quaranta, 27, was found dead after being called by her boyfriend, Antonio de Pace, 28, to say he had killed her.

The police said they were working together in a local hospital in the city of Messina in Sicily, but they were prepared to assist in the "Corona" outbreak.

After the security forces examined the perpetrator's apartment, she found the doctor's body, while forensic specialists revealed that she had been asphyxiated.

The University of Messina in Sicily says that Lorena will be awarded her medical certificate after her death as a tribute to her.
