More than 3.9 billion people, equivalent to half of the world's population, have been called upon to remain in their homes or forced to do so in the context of policies aimed at combating the Covid-19 outbreak, according to a tally compiled by AFP on Thursday.

These measures, ranging from compulsory or recommended removal to curfew and quarantine, mean more than 90 countries and territories. The percentage reached 50% after Thailand approved a valid curfew starting Friday.
