Since March 1, 4,503 people have died of coronavirus in French hospitals, including 471 registered in the last 24 hours, said Thursday April 2, the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, during his daily press briefing.

Among the more than 26,000 people hospitalized, 6,399 are in intensive care, or 382 more in one day, an increase that has slowed since Monday.

At least 884 elderly people have died from coronavirus in French nursing homes, according to first official "very partial" figures, and at least 14,638 "confirmed or possible" cases of the disease have been identified, said Jérôme Salomon.
