"It is in Borlänge that we have the largest distribution in the county," says Anders Lindblom, infection control physician in the Dalarna Region.

Throughout the county, the infection has been found in a total of seven elderly homes, the seventh of which is in the municipality of Hedemora. So borlänge stands out properly.

- We can say that the infection has taken off seriously in Dalarna and it seems that we in Borlänge are first out and then it is clear that it is also spread to elderly residents. There is a ban on visitors to our elderly homes and we work hard with protective equipment for our staff and that routines around hygiene are followed, says Jan Bohman (S), chairman of the municipal council in Borlänge.

Several deaths in elderly homes - "Worthy of going away in their home"

How the infection has affected 75 per cent of the municipality's elderly housing is unclear. According to Anders Lindblom, it may be staff, relatives or someone newly brought in who has brought the infection in. Most of the county's deaths have occurred in Borlänge and several of them in elderly homes.

- When the coronas center is found, we make an assessment of whether the person should be moved or remain in the elderly home. We have to adhere to the guidelines of the Social Board and should not provide care that is unethical. In many cases it may be more worthwhile to go away in their home than on a hospital breeze. Such assessments make doctors daily, it's nothing strange in this situation, says Anders Lindblom.

Crisis Management Board activated

On Thursday, the municipality's crisis management board was activated, which can take over the decision-making authority on certain issues that are usually on other municipal boards.

- This is the first time in Borlänge Municipality's history, what I know, says Jan Bohman.

The care department opens in Borlänge

A coronary care unit is also being opened at Borlänge Hospital, previously all patients have been cared for in Falun. Initially, there will be 15 care facilities in the new department, but if necessary it should be able to be further expanded.
