April 01, 2020 "I want every American to be ready to face the hard days ahead." It is the warning launched by President Donald Trump during the daily briefing on the coronavirus, estimating that Covid-19 could kill 100 thousand to 240 thousand people in America. "We have a very tough couple of weeks ahead," the president warned, in a tone that was seriously alarmed for the first time. "It will be a very painful two weeks - he insisted - and then hopefully the experts predict that we will begin to see some real light at the end of the tunnel." The head of the White House, with a sad turn with respect to the hope of "reopening the country for Easter", extended the recommendation to stay at home by 30 days, until April 30, avoiding gatherings with more than 10 people.

"It is absolutely crucial that Americans follow the guidelines for the next 30 days - Trump explained - it is a matter of life or death." According to the slides shown by task force experts Deborah Birx and Anthony Fauci, without containment measures, up to 2.2 million Americans could die. The US yesterday recorded a new death toll, 865 in one day. "There is no magic wand, vaccine or magic therapy. Any behavior translates into something that can change the course of this viral pandemic in the next 30 days," observed Birx, predicting the peak in 15 days. Social distancing is working, he explained, citing Italy as a model with the contagion curve starting to fall. "We must not be discouraged - urged the super virologist of Italian origins Fauci, who directs the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases." We will do everything possible - he assured - to reduce the number of deaths to a minimum ".
