The Corona crisis has made it echo empty among the hotels in Sörmland.

- The location in the hotel industry in Nyköping and Sörmland is the same as in the whole of Sweden. We have incredible bookings. This booking mode is the worst I have ever experienced, says Johanna Hellström, director of a hotel in Nyköping

- We basically have no guests left. We don't go around, says Laura Mellander, operations manager for another hotel in Nyköping.

Some hotels have chosen to rent rooms as offices throughout the day, others may have anti-corona packages and special offers to attract guests.

- Then I find that many people come in and buy a coffee or a beer. Many people come in and feel that they want to support the hotel industry, which is fantastic, says Hellström.

There are flashes of light

Thus, there are some flashes of light despite the current situation.

- We experience a great understanding from our guests. For example, we do not serve a buffet breakfast but have a packed breakfast. The guests receive it with open arms, they understand our situation and see that we do what we can to limit the spread of infection. So the guest satisfaction is very high, almost the best we have had here. It's a small unexpected effect, says Hellström.
