The machines roar at the factory in Borås. Here, different kinds of high-tech fabrics are manufactured. FOV Fabrics in Borås is one of the companies that has reported interest in Teko to contribute to the manufacture of medical equipment.

Teko then coordinates with the authorities. Some companies may have machines, other seamstresses and other fabrics.

"When the authorities show that there is a need for textile products, we will ensure that the companies that can work together in this and have the opportunity to do so," says Cecilia Tall, secretary general at Teko.

What did the interest look like?

- There is certainly interest, but they have had difficulty coordinating real needs. We have not been able to get a clear picture of what the real need is at a national level. What one would like is greater coordination. There is the capacity to make a lot of products in Sweden, but then we must also have an order, says Cecilia Tall.

She sees a risk that companies if they do not receive orders from Sweden instead produce more for other countries.

- They would like to produce for Swedish needs, but if we do not talk about what needs we have, then they must also make sure that they can retain their staff, she says.

"The future is very uncertain"

FOV Fabrics has 85 employees. As yet, the company has not had to lay off or notify any employees due to corona. But the crisis will soon cause the factory to have problems with deliveries of, for example, yarn.

- The future is very uncertain. Right now both suppliers and customers are closing down. So it will affect us more and more in the future, says Mats Lundgren.
