The Béziers (Hérault) Criminal Court sentenced a man on 30 March to 30 months' imprisonment, including 12 months suspended probation for two years, and to his continued detention.

The accused, 30, was prosecuted for making threats on 8 February against his neighbors, who accused him of having considered marrying their 11-year-old daughter when she became an adult, reports Raphaël Balland, the public prosecutor of Béziers. The 30-year-old was also being sued for degradations.

"At the time of his arrest, he had also rebelled while committing outrages and uttering threats against the police officers of the Agde police station," said the magistrate. The man was under the influence of drugs.

Upon his release from detention, the justice system prohibited him from entering into contact with the victims and from going to the commune of Agde for a period of three years.
