According to him, it is very important for Belarus to develop trade and economic relations with the United States and maintain a political dialogue with the aim of lifting sanctions.

At the same time, he noted that he saw no reason in contrasting the normalized relations of Minsk and Washington with the strategic allied relations of Belarus with Russia.

“We have no plans, as they like to say,“ to move Belarus westward, ”and the intensification of our relations with Washington does not prevent us from continuing to realize allied relations with Russia,” Semashko said.

He emphasized that Russia “was, is and will remain the main ally and strategic partner” of Belarus.
