Significant smoke from a balcony on the 5th floor raised the alarm. This Wednesday around 4:30 p.m., the Nice firefighters intervened in large numbers in a building in the east of the city, which they had to evacuate in view of the disaster.
"A fire group of 24 firefighters in six vehicles has been hired" to contain the fire, said the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Alpes-Maritimes. In the end, only a 20 m2 balcony was really devastated by the flames, but 30 people had to be evacuated and put in safety.
Take care during containment
Thirteen of them were seen by the firefighter, but all were ultimately unharmed and did not require medical treatment. Sdis 06 specifies that three relocations are to be expected in view of the damage in the apartments.
Last week, the Niçois Eric Brocardi, spokesperson for the National Federation of Firefighters of France, had called for caution, particularly with regard to domestic fires during this period of confinement linked to the coronavirus.
