It was Saturday afternoon that Seamus McManus and his family set out on Lake Snogeholm in Sjöbo Municipality. He runs a company that rents out bicycles and is often out at sea.
- I have been out on the lake at Snogeholm many times and we tell our customers that it is a great place to visit to experience nature and wildlife, but I have never seen anything like it. Lots of fish and birds, but wild boar !, he says.
It was when the family was on their way to an island lying in the lake that they saw something coming swimming.
"Thought it was a big bird"- At first I thought it was a big bird, but as I approached I saw that it was a wild boar. I trampled quickly to get to the side of the boar and then turned to swim back to the island. She seemed very calm, he says.
The boar was not alone. Soon Seamus' family discovered that her cults were waiting for the island.
- My wife and our two sons noticed that her piglets were on the edge of the island. I can only guess that when we arrived she swam away to distract us from her piglets. It was a fantastic thing to see her swim and also nice to see her back with her piglets, he says.
