On March 20, Patrik Slimane was acquitted of a violation of the Off-Road Driving Act. Halmstad District Court believes that the area where Slimane drove should be regarded as road and not terrain.

But it is not over yet. Prosecutor Caroline Nilsson believes that the district court's judgment is incorrect and the judgment is now appealed to the court of law, reports P4 Halland.

- I have put forward several reasons why this beach section should instead be assessed as terrain, says the prosecutor to P4 Halland.

Friad hoped to be sentenced

Patrik Slimane, who was released from the crime, really hoped to be sentenced. He has long, together with the association Strandmiljö Laholm, fought to ban the car beach. In the summer of 2019, he drove himself on the beach while another member of the association documented, and then voluntarily prosecuted for the crime, hoping to be convicted of crime.

- Actually, I think the whole story is starting to get pretty boring, I get annoyed that we and everyone else can't get along, Slimane tells SVT Halland.

You want different?

- I would have liked to have seen a situation where more wills could have come up with a common solution, which I thought was the very best. Where on some occasions you may have had to drive on the beach, when there are many visitors or utility traffic.

What are you hoping for in court?

- Now I will be completely honest, it is really sad for Laholm and many people if there is a complete ban on cars on the beach, BUT, in my eyes it is a normal condition not to drive a car on the beach, but many people are very satisfied with what it's like in Laholm today, I don't think it's good, says Patrik Slimane.
