The Greek Ministry of Immigration announced, today, Tuesday, that an asylum-seeker living in an immigrant camp near Athens has been infected with the new Corona virus, after a examination she had given to her after she was born in a hospital in the Greek capital.

This is the first infection recorded among asylum seekers living in camps in Greece, knowing that the Greek government has conducted several vaccination campaigns in the past years, but no tests were done to detect the infection of the new Corona virus.

The woman, whose name has not been released, lives in Ritsuna camp, 80 km north of Athens, and it was not clear if she was infected with the virus in or outside the hospital.

The official "ART" television revealed that the woman is of African descent.

The ministry announced that an examination had been made of a person living with it, who had not been infected with the virus.

The Ministry of Immigration announced that "the Public Health Organization is working to track the people who have had this condition in recent days, and is taking all necessary measures to protect the camp population and the team working there."

A hospital source revealed that ten members of the medical staff were put in stone and three people who were with the woman in the same room were subjected to HIV testing.

Greece, with a population of 11 million, has registered 46 deaths from the Coruna virus and 1,212 cases.

The Greek authorities have issued directives to keep the camp residents as far from the area as possible.

Tens of thousands of asylum seekers live in overcrowded camps, and the authorities imposed strict restrictions on the movement of camp residents for thirty days.
