The decision was made on Monday, March 23, after a period of deliberation, according to Anna-Carin Wihlbäck, chief physician at the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Norrland University Hospital.

- We must do what we can to limit the infection in society, she says.

The stoppage of visits includes BB, BB home care (where the baby is examined by doctors after birth, for example), specialist maternity care (where the ultrasound is made) and other reception visits to the hospital. The restrictions apply to all three hospitals in Västerbotten.

- But it is perfectly fine to have another healthy relative with you during childbirth.

Anna-Carin Wihlbäck understands that some future parents are disappointed.
