Many of those who become unemployed as a result of the corona crisis have had insecure employment and may not be in the unemployment insurance fund. Therefore, the Government, together with the Center Party and the Liberals, is now proposing that the requirements for who can receive compensation be temporarily lowered.

- More people will be covered by the A-fund than before, says Magdalena Andersson about the temporary changes.

Previously, you had to work 80 hours a month for at least six months in order to receive a cash register. Now it is reduced to 60 hours. The requirement for how long you have to be a member of the a-kassan in order to be entitled to compensation is reduced from 12 months to three.

Higher compensation

At the same time, it is proposed that both the ceiling and the basic amount in the a-cash be raised temporarily. The ceiling is raised from SEK 910 to SEK 1,200 for the first 100 days.

In addition, the A funds will receive extra funds for their handling. The employment service also receives more resources for programs, including to extend new start-up jobs.

"We must also equip ourselves so that all jobs cannot be saved," says Finance Minister Per Bolund (MP).

Training programs

The crisis package also includes an investment in education. The number of places at universities and colleges should be increased and they will receive increased funding to develop the work on distance education. The vocational college should be strengthened so that more people can take the degree.

- These are long-term investments that will serve Sweden well, says Center Party's economic-political spokesperson Emil Källström.

In total, the package costs SEK 10.8 billion and the government will shortly submit the proposals for the risk day.
