For the past four years, Linnea has jumped between nine different secondary contracts. One of the accommodations lasted only five weeks.

- I always have a feeling of not having a fixed point in life, she says.

"Like a ticking bomb"

Today, Linnea rents an apartment primarily in Gothenburg. But because it is an apartment with a demolition contract, it means that she must move again soon.

- I don't really have a problem with renting again in the second place, but it's the short time and the uncertainty that is the hard thing. It's like a ticking bomb that you don't know when it can explode.

What consequences did it mean for you to move around?

- It has affected me tremendously financially. I have spent so much money on the accommodation I have rented, it has been ocher rents.

35 percent are worried

Linnea is far from alone about her situation. A survey of young people's housing situation that the Tenants Association did in December 2019 shows that 35 percent of young adults are worried about finding housing.

- The housing situation for young people is quite difficult and has become more difficult over time. Since 1997, young adults living at home have increased, today 27 percent of all young adults are at home, says Stefan Runfeldt, investigator at the Tenants Association.

Can be forced to say no

Emma Ringqvist is the president of the union of Jagvillhabostad.nu. She testifies that several young people who heard from them told them that they could not fulfill their plans for the future, due to housing shortages.

- Many people even have to refuse jobs and education because they can't find anywhere to live.
