Regulated gas sales prices applied by Engie to millions of French homes will drop 4.4% on April 1, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced on Monday. "This decrease is 1.1% for customers who use gas for cooking, 2.5% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water and 4.6% for homes that heat at gas, "she said in a statement.

Free prices in the future

Since January 1, 2019, Engie's regulated gas sales prices have decreased by 22.2% in all, specifies the regulator. The Energy and Climate Law adopted last November provides for the gradual extinction by 2023 of regulated gas sales tariffs (TRV).

As a result, Engie has stopped marketing new contracts of this type, but continues to apply these prices to consumers who already benefit from them. In the future, there will only be so-called market offers, at prices freely set by the suppliers.
