If Jean-Michel Blanquer considered, last week, to reopen schools on May 4, closed due to the coronavirus, "it may be later," finally said the Minister of National Education on Monday, on Europe 1.

The reopening of schools, colleges and high schools on May 4 is just a scenario, "no more, no less," said Jean-Michel Blanquer, faced with the spread of the pandemic.

A final decision in April

“It's a possibility, it depends on the evolution of the epidemic. I hope we will be able to return on May 4 (…) The peak of the epidemic should be behind us at that time. (…) It may be later, ”said the minister. This date "is still compatible with what has been said by the health authorities", but a decision should be taken during the month of April, announced Jean-Michel Blanquer.

Schools have been closed since March 16 in France, due to the coronavirus epidemic. Nearly 12 million students, including high school students who must pass the baccalaureate in a few weeks, take their lessons from home.
