306 people are intensive care or have been intensive care to date. Especially in the Stockholm area, pressure is high on the department, the Public Health Agency announces in a press conference.

Over 4,000 people have been confirmed infected in Sweden. And the recommendations continue in the same style as before.

- If you are the smallest little sick, you have to stay home, says Anders Tegnell.

Among those admitted are significantly more men, but the reason for this is unclear.

- We have no good explanation for why this looks like this, says Anders Tegnell, state epidemiologist.

Stay at home during the Easter holidays

Taha Alexandersson from the National Board of Health and Welfare says that the authority appeals to those who have Easter leave to stay in their regions and not go away, so as not to burden medical care elsewhere in the country.

"Many people want control or a challenge, but we don't work that way - we appeal," she says.

All 21 regions are in a strengthening position and are making huge adjustments to address the enormous need for care, according to Taha Alexandersson.

Try more

One of the journalists present asks Anders Tegnell if there are any plans to mass test the population.

- Together with the regions, we are working on how to test more and more, which we also did. There is certainly potential to test more, but it must be done in orderly form. Later this week, we will have a meeting with the major players and regions to see how we can get it together, without diverting resources from an already heavily burdened healthcare system, he says.
