March 29, 2020 Music loses one of its last great. Polish composer and conductor Krzysztof Penderecki died at 86. Born in 1933 in southern Poland, he graduated from the Krakow Conservatory in 1958, later becoming its rector. His worldwide fame exploded in 1961 with the 'Trenodia for the victims of Hiroshima'. His compositions have been "plundered" by the cinema. Stanley Kubrick made use of it in 'Shining', William Friedkin in 'The Exorcist' and David Lynch in 'Twin Peaks'.
