Qatar has announced that it will host Bahraini citizens coming from Iran, after their countries refused to receive them, in light of the spread of the Corona virus.

The government communication office said in a statement issued on Saturday that on March 27, 31 Bahraini citizens arrived at Hamad International Airport on the Qatar Airways flight from Iran.

The statement added that the Kingdom of Bahrain does not allow the passage of Qatari commercial aircraft, and therefore, "Qatari officials contacted their counterparts in Bahrain to inquire about the best way to return the Bahraini brothers to their homeland safely."

He explained that the State of Qatar offered the Bahraini government to leave the brothers to their homeland by private plane, without the Kingdom of Bahrain or the individuals concerned to bear the costs of the trip, but the Bahraini authorities rejected this option.

He continued, "Since the health and safety of everyone in Qatar and around the world is a top priority in these difficult conditions, the Ministry of Public Health in the State of Qatar conducted a new corona examination for Bahraini brothers coming from Iran, and entered them into one of the hotels designated for quarantine for a period of two weeks, with the State of Qatar bearing The cost of their stay and treatment. "

The Qatari government liaison office expressed its hope that the Bahraini authorities will facilitate by the end of the two weeks the procedures for the return of the Bahraini brothers to their homeland, and if not, the State of Qatar is ready to host them for a longer period and provide the necessary care for them, according to the statement.

For its part, the Ministry of Health in Bahrain told Reuters that Manama is moving forward with its evacuation plan and has sent three charter flights to Iran so far.
