Kiriyenko recalled a proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin that “key domestic services are provided free of charge on the Russian Internet.”

“Not all, of course, but at least from home computers, desktops, such an opportunity will not be on July 1, but on April 1 for this minimum set of services,” TASS quoted him as saying.

On January 15, Putin, within the framework of the annual message to the Federal Assembly, proposed to implement the Accessible Internet project throughout the country. The project should provide free access to socially significant domestic services.

The Ministry of Communications noted that the department is discussing free access to a number of sites in Russia as part of this project.
