March 28, 2020 "The people affected by Covid-19 among employees of the Holy See and citizens of the Vatican City State are currently 6. I can confirm that neither the Holy Father nor his closest collaborators are involved". This was reported by the director of the Vatican press room Matteo Bruni.

"In recent days - reports the director of the Vatican press room Matteo Bruni-, in the context of the checks carried out by the Health and Hygiene Directorate of the Vatican City State in compliance with the directives on the coronavirus emergency, another positivity was identified at Covid- 19: this is an officer of the Secretariat of State residing in Santa Marta who, having presented some symptoms, was subsequently placed in fiduciary isolation. At the moment his health conditions do not present any particular criticalities, but as a precaution the person was hospitalized in a Roman hospital under observation, in close contact with the authorities of the Health and Hygiene Department ". Following the positive response "measures were taken according to the health protocols envisaged, both with regard to the sanitization of the environments, the workplace and residence of the interested party, and with respect to the reconstruction of the contacts made in the days prior to the response. The health authorities they performed tests on people in closer contact with the identified positivity. The results confirmed the absence of other positive cases among those residing in Casa Santa Marta, and a further positivity among the employees of the Holy See in closer contact with the Official ". The total number of Covid-19 cases found in the Vatican thus officially rises to six people.

In the Vatican notice obliges to communicate swabs outcome
A notice appeared in the Vatican with the stamp of the Domus Sanctae Marthae (Casa Santa Marta) which obliges employees and residents of the facility to communicate the outcome of the Coronavirus swab to the higher authorities. It reads exactly on the notice posted in several places in the Vatican: "The higher authorities have informed and asked to communicate that all residents and all employees have tested negative for the Covid exam". Last Thursday, after the positive case of an Italian monsignor residing in Santa Marta and on duty at the Vatican Secretariat of State, a kind of headquarters was organized in Santa Marta where carpet swabs were made to all those who can be came into contact with the infected monsignor or with the environments he passed through.
